Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
For me, CrossFit was just the next step. I had been teaching courses through a different program and became stagnant. CrossFit held the element of challenge I needed. Once I began, I just wanted more. I like being strong; I like starting my day with a challenge and knowing that I can be better than the day before, it’s all up to me. A bad day at CrossFit is still an excellent day in my life.

Why did you become a trainer?
I find so much joy in helping people. . Coming from an unhealthy position, my heart has told me I can help others. We all have a purpose on this earth and for me, my faith has called me to this journey. I feel so blessed to work with so many wonderful people.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Double Unders, Power Cleans, and Muscle Ups are creeping in up there (note there is no running or box jumps listed)

What is your favorite cheat food?
Dark Chocolate

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
Probably Wonder Woman. Representing beauty in so many ways; strength, soul and in her actions. Seriously, who wouldn’t want an invisible plane and a lasso to haul the bad guys in with? I grew up watching the “Justice League” on Saturday mornings back when cartoons were really cartoons. It was wonderful seeing the good guys win!

I have been in sports and active all of my life. My little brother found Crossfit and told me to try it. I bought a Groupon and fell in love.

Why did you become a trainer?
I enjoy helping people realize that moving naturally is important. The look on their faces when they realize it was them all along keeping them from performing a movement is glorious. To watch someone come into the gym for the first time and do things they never thought possible bring me more happiness than anything.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
Towards the end of 2011 I was really uncomfortable in my own skin. I was on a path of eating unhealthy and having low energy constantly. For my Christmas gift to myself that year I signed up for Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping. Getting back to working out and eating right felt fantastic. One of my friends had been doing CrossFit and always spoke highly of it. I went in for a free session and was hooked. I had forgot how much I had enjoyed lifting weights in high school!

Why did you become a trainer?
The nature of every box being able to do their own programming leads to a lot of different coaching styles and practices. CrossFit gets a bad rep due to poor/uneducated coaching that causes people to get injured. I decided that I wanted to help change the public’s view of CrossFit by becoming a coach, a good one. Plus, I absolutely love CrossFit so the more people I can get hooked on it, the more friends I will have to lift with!

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Power Clean

What is your favorite cheat food?
This is tough because I love food! Pepperoni and black olive pizza and any type of ice cream! Oh yeah, and sweet potato fries from Jimi D’s in Aksarben.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
I was never much of a Superhero fan but I will say Superman… in costume or regular on the street as Clark Kent that man is a hunk!

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I loved sports growing up and tried everything from basketball (not my thing) to lifting weights, throwing shot put, and running cross country (my favorite). At some point during life there was a multi-year dry spell without fitness, leaving me sluggish and wearing larger clothes. I felt better after starting step and other traditional classes, but hit the jackpot after starting kettlebell training at Omaha Elite Kettlebell in 2010. As well, I first heard of CrossFit in 2010 from a Muscle & Fitness Hers article and thought it sounded awesome but didn’t pursue it. I had also been working with a personal trainer at Life Time Fitness; he moved and matched me with another trainer – Kyle Kasperbauer. Kyle didn’t mention CrossFit at all, but I do vividly remember one session he had me do a workout that he said was called Filthy Fifty – I will never forget it…..! Late in 2011, I was really excited to find out that there was a CrossFit box (now Vise DT) just around the corner from work. I dropped in on a few classes, joined in mid 2012 and haven’t looked back since!

Why did you become a trainer?

Simply because I love helping others. I have found something special with this sport. I like helping others find the confidence to succeed and believe in themselves. Helping them see what they are truly capable of.
